Communities In Schools of Cleveland County, Inc. (CIS) is a dedicated brand that aims to provide essential support to students in Cleveland County, North Carolina. Established in 1991 by the Cleveland Challenge, a group of community leaders passionate about education, CIS implements its model to address critical concerns in education.

Their focus is on four core areas: Academics, Behavior, Coursework, and Parental Engagement, also known as the ABC+P model. CIS collaborates closely with Cleveland County Schools to identify underserved students who require assistance in these areas to ensure they graduate successfully. CIS offers a range of programs and services to support students during and after school hours.

They currently serve six school locations, including all four local high schools, Burns Middle School, and Shelby Intermediate. In addition to providing academic support, CIS offers enrichment opportunities, cultural experiences, mentoring, leadership opportunities, and other supplementary programming. Their mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve their goals in life.
