## Description

City Observatory is a dynamic website and think tank dedicated to analyzing cities and the policies that shape them. Our goal is to provide data-driven insights and break down the latest urban research to challenge misconceptions about cities. We highlight innovative ideas that strengthen our communities, covering a wide range of subjects including transportation, housing, gentrification, place making, economic opportunity, and industry clusters. Our cards address core topics that are continually updated with the latest data and research. In addition to our regular posts, we also publish in-depth research reports and papers on urban policy topics such as crime in cities, traffic congestion, neighborhood change, and migration. Based in Portland, Oregon, a city renowned for its creative urban thinking, City Observatory takes a nationwide approach, seeking the best ideas for promoting city success no matter where they originate. City Observatory is supported by the Quicken Loans Community Investment Fund and was founded with support from the Knight Foundation. Our work is led by Joe Cortright, an esteemed urban economist and opinion leader. Join us in exploring the fascinating world of cities and discovering the strategies that contribute to their success.
