## Description

Fundación Ciudad de la Energía (CIUDEN) is a state-sector foundation established in 2006 and attached to the Institute for Just Transition within Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. Its mission is to support the shift to a decarbonized energy system while contributing to economic and social development and employment. The foundation promotes research, technological development and innovation in energy, guided by green and circular economy principles, sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.

CIUDEN also works to preserve and develop the tourism potential of mining and industrial heritage. Through its museums and cultural activities, it seeks to integrate these sites into local resources for visitors and institutions. Its CIUDEN Vivero centre provides vocational training for employment and plant production, with programs linked to professional qualifications and job creation. In addition, the foundation supports the implementation and monitoring of Just Transition Agreements, helping provide resources for communities affected by the energy transition.
