## Description

Clan Martin International is an organization for people interested in the history, heritage, and descendants of Clan Martin, also known as Clan MacMartin. Its name reflects the Gaelic phrase “Sliochd nan sionnach,” meaning “Children of the foxes,” a reference to the clan’s association with the cunning and noble fox. The site traces the clan’s story from the ancient Mairtine and the migrations that helped shape the Dal Riada kingdom in Scotland and Ireland, through the MacMairtin name and its later anglicization to MacMartin. It highlights the clan’s historic presence around Loch Lochy and the Great Glen, its loyalty to Scotland, and the losses suffered during the Jacobite uprising and Highland Clearances. Clan Martin International presents historical articles and information on Scottish and Irish migration, clan family history, and DNA research. It also shares details about the clan’s heritage and upcoming events, and encourages descendants to organize and seek recognition as a clan in their own right.
