## Description

CleanSea is a brand dedicated to creating a cleaner future for our oceans and protecting marine life from the harmful effects of ocean pollution. Our goal is to remove plastic and other harmful debris from the sea and coastline. Currently, 5 bathtubs worth of plastic wash up on the shores of Bohuslän every hour, and 94% of seabirds in the North Sea have plastic in their stomachs. This is why we are committed to fighting against this threat. We conduct coastal cleanups along the west coast of Sweden, targeting bays, beaches, harbors, and other coastal areas where plastic accumulates. By cleaning these areas, we can prevent the plastic from returning to the sea during high tide or storms, thus protecting marine life and preserving the cleanliness of the coastline. So far, we have cleaned over 300 bays along the west coast. In addition to coastal cleanups, we also organize dive cleanups in collaboration with Rena Botten. These cleanups focus on removing debris from the seabed, particularly in small boat harbors where there is a high concentration of waste below the surface. To date, we have removed over 8,000 kilograms of debris from the seabed in these dive cleanups. Furthermore, we conduct cleanups on islands in the archipelago of Bohuslän. These islands are vital habitats for marine life such as seals and seabirds, but they often become littered with plastic carried by ocean currents. Our team travels to these islands to clean up the plastic, ensuring that it does not harm the marine ecosystem or find its way back into the sea. Bohuslän, located along the west coast of Sweden, is a high impact area for ocean plastic in Europe. Every hour, the coastline here receives the equivalent of 5 bathtubs full of plastic. This alarming amount can be attributed to ocean currents that bring plastic from both the Atlantic Ocean and the Baltic Sea. In fact, 80% of the ocean plastic in Bohuslän comes from countries other than Sweden. During our cleanups, we encounter various types of marine debris. Approximately 50% of the plastic we find is single-use plastic, including bags, bottles, food packaging, balloons, and takeaway containers. These items are often used for only a few minutes but can pollute the ocean for decades or even centuries. About 40% of the debris we collect consists of old fishing gear, such as ghost nets, ropes, fishing lines, lobster pots, and even equipment like gloves and fish crates. These fishing gear pose a significant threat to marine life as they can entangle and harm marine species. In addition to single-use plastic and fishing gear, we come across a wide range of other items during our cleanups, including polystyrene, construction materials, medicine, full gasoline containers, car parts, tools, and clothing. Some extraordinary finds include morphine from Denmark and space technology. CleanSea offers a tangible way for individuals to contribute to our mission. Our CleanSea armbands provide funding for the removal of 1 kilogram of plastic and harmful debris from the ocean and coastlines. By purchasing and wearing these armbands, you can directly support our efforts to create a cleaner and safer marine environment. Join us on our journey towards a clean ocean and help us remove the next kilogram of ocean plastic by wearing a CleanSea armband! Subscribe to our email list and we will remove 100 grams of plastic for every signup. Stay informed about our collective impact, milestones, and other news. Together, let's create a clean sea!.
