## Description

Clevedon Pilot Gig Club is a charitable sports club based in the South West of England, bringing people together through the tradition and sport of pilot gig rowing. The club’s history reflects the work of seafarers who once raced wooden rowing boats out to meet merchant vessels and guide them through the region’s challenging coastal waters to safe harbour. Today, gig racing is a popular and rapidly growing water sport, with regattas held throughout the summer.

The club’s first boat, Watch and Pray, was built at Bristol’s Underfall Yard and launched in March 2011. Its fleet has grown to include Blackbird, acquired in 2012, and the fibreglass gigs Churngold, Ladye Bay and Finzel. The club has also had training boats, including Odessa, a wooden gig later sold to the newly formed Portishead Pilot Gig Club. Clevedon Pilot Gig Club welcomes people interested in joining and provides information about membership through its contact channel.
