## Description

Welcome to the Clink Prison Museum, a captivating attraction located in the heart of Southwark, London. This unique museum is built on the site of the original Clink Prison, which dates back to 1144, making it one of England's oldest and most notorious prisons. At the Clink Prison Museum, visitors can delve into the scandalous history of Old Bankside through a hands-on educational experience. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and even smells of the prison as you explore archaeological artifacts, handle torture devices, and learn about the tales of torment and misfortune endured by its inmates. Spanning over 600 years, the Clink Prison witnessed significant social and political changes in England, housing a wide range of sinners including debtors, heretics, drunkards, and harlots. Positioned in an area associated with vivacious and unruly behavior, the Clink Prison was the louder and wickeder neighbor to The City, offering entertainment for Londoners seeking a thrilling experience. Please note that the museum is not wheelchair accessible. Experience the prison that gave its name to all others and uncover the dark secrets of the past at the Clink Prison Museum.
