The Campbell McLaurin Foundation for Hearing Deficiencies is dedicated to helping low-income individuals in Southern Alberta overcome hearing challenges. We understand the financial burden that comes with hearing treatments and devices, which is why we offer financial support to those who qualify. Our mission is to make hearing devices more affordable and accessible, so individuals can experience the difference it can make in their lives.

Since our establishment, we have provided over 4,000 grants to hard of hearing individuals and funded over 8,000 aids or assistive devices, distributing over $8.9 million to further our foundation goals. The foundation was established based on the wishes and bequests of the Honourable Colin Campbell McLaurin, a former Chief Justice of the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Alberta. Chief Justice McLaurin had a hearing loss in his later years and directed that a foundation be funded to enhance the lives of individuals with hearing deficiencies.

We are proud to partner with leading researchers and fund hearing research programs at the University of Calgary. Our goal is to fuel research in the area of hearing deficiency, promote collaborative research, attract outstanding students and faculty, and foster a bench-to-bedside approach. Additionally, we support the only endowed research chair focused on Deaf Studies and Deaf Education, which contributes to research, teachings, and community partnerships.
