## Description

Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI) is an independent research organisation dedicated to finding treatments and cures for serious conditions affecting children, particularly genetic diseases and birth defects. Its more than 200 scientists conduct basic science and medical research, aiming to translate discoveries into better care and healthier futures. CMRI’s research spans cancer, neurobiology, embryology, genomics and gene therapy, supported by specialist research teams and facilities. Its work includes using next-generation DNA sequencing to identify causes of genetic diseases, developing cancer treatments with fewer side effects, and advancing gene therapies that may help treat previously incurable conditions. The institute shares information about its research through educational resources, laboratory tours, researcher insights and stories from families affected by childhood conditions. CMRI invites the public to support its mission through one-off or monthly donations, fundraising initiatives such as Jeans for Genes and the Great Cycle Challenge, workplace giving, corporate partnerships, gifts in wills and other contributions.
