Coastal Jazz is a dynamic and influential brand that is dedicated to connecting, transforming, inspiring, and nurturing both artists and audiences through the joy, passion, and power of jazz. Since its inception in 1985, Coastal Jazz has been at the forefront of establishing Vancouver, British Columbia as a hub for the creation and exchange of sounds and ideas within the local, national, and international music communities. With a wide-ranging vision that encompasses jazz, blues, world, creative, and improvised music, Coastal Jazz produces the highly acclaimed Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Bright Moments series of concerts, and the annual Winter Jazz festival on Granville Island. Additionally, Coastal Jazz presents a diverse lineup of local, national, and international artists throughout the year to further elevate the appreciation of music. Further demonstrating its commitment to the arts, Coastal Jazz also places a strong emphasis on music education. The society offers educational initiatives, community programs, workshops, and the Cypher: Write, Record, Perform program exclusively for young musicians. Through these programs, Coastal Jazz strives to foster and support the next generation of jazz talent. As BC's largest not-for-profit music presenter, Coastal Jazz contributes significantly to the region's economic activity and tourism industry. The annual jazz festival alone attracts over half a million attendees and generates more than $43 million in economic impact.
