About
Description
Community Coalition (CoCo) is a grassroots organizing institution that has been a prominent force in Los Angeles for three decades. Founded as an African American and Latino organization, CoCo is dedicated to supporting power building with Black, Brown, Indigenous, and people of color. Their work spans various levels of government, advocating for racial and economic justice.
CoCo has empowered two generations of leaders, including youth and adult members from South Los Angeles. They have made significant improvements to schools, closed the achievement gap, and achieved numerous measures that are transforming communities of color in South Central. As an organization rooted in racial justice, CoCo centers the voices and leadership of people of color to combat systemic racism.
They strive to bring communities together and be part of a larger movement for change. CoCo's vision includes a Center for Community Organizing (CCO) that will train activists and organizers across the nation in multi-racial organizing, encouraging civic leadership, cross-city learning, and arts and cultural activism. You can support CoCo's ongoing efforts by making a donation
