## Description

CodeCrafters is a programming education platform for experienced engineers who want to understand how real software works by rebuilding it from scratch. Its guided, hands-on challenges cover systems including Redis, Git, SQLite, Kafka, BitTorrent, shells, interpreters, grep, HTTP servers, and Claude Code. Across 11 projects, learners explore topics such as network protocols, storage engines, distributed systems, parsing, binary formats, and LLM tool use.

The platform is designed around practical work in a developer’s own environment: participants choose a challenge, code in their preferred IDE and language, then push their work to receive automated test results and hints. Challenges are divided into stages, offering structure while leaving room for independent exploration. CodeCrafters positions its projects as demanding alternatives to toy exercises and algorithm drills, helping developers deepen their technical skills and build stronger mental models of the tools they use.

The service is praised by engineers and contributors from companies and projects including Google, OpenAI, Vercel, Stripe, and Redis. Users can try individual challenges or gift a membership.
