## Description

Cody Evers is a landscape social scientist and research associate in Portland State University’s Department of Environmental Science and Management. His work examines wildfire risk management across the Western United States, focusing on how communities, agencies, and other stakeholders collaborate across social and geographic boundaries. Using methods such as network analysis, surveys, spatial statistics, data visualization, and participatory mapping, Evers studies wildfire exposure, risk transmission, and the relationships between people and ecosystems. His research also explores ecosystem services and social-ecological networks, helping explain how environmental benefits are understood and how management systems align with ecological processes.

Evers contributes applied research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and tools that support decision-making and public engagement. He co-developed Re-envision, an interactive platform for exploring landscape-change scenarios, and Envisionr, which organizes model outputs for analysis. He also created Point-it-out, a mapping plugin for surveys that lets respondents provide spatial information. His findings have informed national wildfire policy, including the 2019 Shared Stewardship Strategy and 2022 Wildfire Crisis Strategy.
