# Colonial Architecture Project - **Website:** - **Primary alias:** `colonialarchitectureproject.org` ## Description The Colonial Architecture Project is an expansive initiative dedicated to documenting and preserving the legacy of European colonial architecture from approximately 1500 to 1960. Led by Gauvin Alexander Bailey, a prominent scholar in Southern Baroque Art, this project presents a rich online library featuring over 159,000 photographs of colonial buildings influenced by empires such as the British, French, Dutch, Danish, Portuguese, and Spanish. These architectural examples, often overlooked in historical studies, are vital to understanding the cultural intersections and impacts of colonization. The project emphasizes the necessity of preserving these structures, many of which are deteriorating or have been lost. It offers insights not only into European architectural traditions but also into the ways these styles have interacted with indigenous practices and beliefs. Through detailed categorization by empire, function, and region, the Colonial Architecture Project aims to foster a deeper appreciation of this architectural heritage and its historic significance, thus encouraging ongoing research and conservation efforts. ## Industries - 🧪 Science and Education - 🧪 Libraries and Museums _(under Science and Education)_ - 🧪 History _(under Science and Education)_ ## Logos & icons - logo _(primary)_ — PNG — [download](https://cdn.brandfetch.io/idTBuQDZfT/w/192/h/192/theme/dark/logo.png?c=1bxid64Mup7aczewSAYMX&t=1789925880186) ## Colors | Name | Hex | Theme | | --- | --- | --- | | Flush Orange | #ff7700 | accent | | Black | #000000 | dark | | Aqua Island | #aad3df | light | --- _Source: _ _See [/llms.txt](/llms.txt) for a full list of agent-readable pages, and [/auth.md](/auth.md) for how agents authenticate._
