Colorado Air and Space Port (CASP) is a public-use, general aviation airport located in Watkins, Colorado, just 26 miles east of downtown Denver. Owned and operated by Adams County, CASP is one of the 12 commercial spaceports in the United States that can support horizontal launch and landing operations. As a General Aviation (GA) - Reliever Airport, CASP plays a vital role in the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS). The airport's history dates back to 1984 when it was built as Front Range Airport to drive economic growth in eastern Adams County. Over the years, CASP has expanded its capabilities with the addition of two 8,000-foot runways, precision instrument landing systems, and control airspace. In 2018, CASP was granted a site operator license by the FAA and renamed Colorado Air and Space Port. Today, CASP serves as America's hub for commercial space transportation, research, and development. With its proximity to Denver International Airport, CASP is well-positioned to foster partnerships with over 400 companies operating in Colorado, supporting groundbreaking missions and research in space and planetary science. With 3,349 acres of land, CASP continues to support local and state governments by building essential facilities such as a Colorado National Guard armory and offices for the Colorado Department of Transportation Aeronautical Division and Colorado State Patrol. As a pioneering force in sub-orbital flight and aerospace research and development, CASP is at the forefront of the future of air and space exploration.
