Description
The Columbia Chronicle is the official student-run news publication of Columbia College Chicago. With a mission to provide award-winning news content on Columbia's campus and the South Loop area, the Chronicle also serves as a laboratory for journalism instruction and practice, producing professionals in various fields. Divided into five sections—Campus, Metro, Opinion, La Crónica, and Arts & Culture—the Chronicle offers a diverse range of engaging content and news to cater to different interests and personalities.
Established in 1973 as the CC Writer, the paper was later renamed The Columbia Chronicle in 1978. Over the years, it has evolved from a print edition to become a comprehensive news organization, incorporating podcasts, multimedia elements, and daily web coverage. As a hallmark of press freedom and student creativity, the Chronicle has won numerous awards nationwide and continues to lead the way for student media publications.
Committed to accuracy and objectivity, the Chronicle implements an in-depth fact-checking process and adheres to its own writing style guidelines. In addition, it follows important media guides such as the Associated Press Stylebook, GLAAD Media Reference Guide, and the Native American Journalists Association's reporting and indigenous terminology guide. Stay informed with The Columbia Chronicle's engaging and reliable news coverage on their website, social media platforms, and quarterly print edition
