## Description

Columbia Orthopedics is the orthopedic surgery department of Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City. With a history dating to the founding of the New York Orthopaedic Dispensary in 1866, it combines patient care, research, and education. The department provides specialty orthopedic care and surgery for adults and children, with specialists across orthopedic fields and a personalized approach to treatment. Patients can find a doctor, explore specialty services and office locations, and request appointments, including telehealth services. The department also offers residency, fellowship, medical student, and professional education programs to prepare future orthopedic leaders. Its research spans basic science and clinical work in musculoskeletal health, supported by facilities and initiatives such as Carroll Laboratories, the Movement Recovery Lab, and the NOVAJoint research project. Columbia Orthopedics describes its work as advancing orthopedic care through clinical practice and research, while training the next generation of surgeons. The department is part of Columbia University Irving Medical Center and is associated with NewYork-Presbyterian and ColumbiaDoctors.
