## Description

CoMaps is a free, open-source mapping and navigation project built by a community committed to privacy, independent maps, and accessible travel tools. Its app supports offline use, allowing people to search for places and plan routes without mobile data. Turn-by-turn navigation, including voice announcements, is available for walking, cycling, and driving, making CoMaps useful for everyday journeys as well as trips in remote areas.

For outdoor adventures, users can highlight hiking trails, campsites, and water sources, view contour lines, and access offline Wikipedia articles about places of interest. In cities, a public transport layer helps with subway and light rail planning in a growing number of locations. The app is designed to use battery efficiently and does not track users or collect personal information; its privacy practices have also been audited by Exodus.

CoMaps is developed through contributions such as OpenStreetMap place updates, user feedback, and code. The project is a fork of Organic Maps and Maps.me, and offers downloads, community resources, and ways to contribute.
