## Description

Commerauer Heidetreffen e.V. is a community association dedicated to preserving and continuing the Commerauer Heidetreffen, a long-standing local festival in the heath and pond landscape of Commerau. The tradition began in 1956, when the event was established under the leadership of Domowina, the umbrella organisation of Sorbian clubs and associations, together with local residents. After a pause around the time of German reunification, volunteers revived the celebration in 1999 by founding the association. Since then, the festival has again become an established part of cultural life in the region, supported by residents and volunteer helpers.

The association organises the annual gathering and shares its programme with visitors, bringing people together to experience the community and local setting. It also maintains and improves its outdoor event grounds. Recent work has included renewing the stage and dance floor, installing fencing and adding paved areas, with support from funding through the LEADER development strategy.
