## Description

Casa Serena is a residential community in Vigardolo, within Monticello Conte Otto, in Italy’s Vicenza area. Established in 1978 and officially opened in 1979, it provides round-the-clock care in a welcoming, family-oriented setting. The community was created through the commitment of parents seeking a secure future for their daughters with disabilities, and it aims to support—not replace—the relationship with each resident’s family.

Casa Serena welcomes people of both sexes with moderate to severe physical and intellectual disabilities, including conditions such as Down syndrome, epilepsy and autism. Its work focuses on social inclusion, personal wellbeing, maintaining existing abilities and developing greater autonomy. A multidisciplinary team creates individualized plans covering educational and social support, daily assistance and therapeutic needs, with external specialists involved when appropriate.

The residence also offers planned short-term stays to provide relief and support to families facing particular difficulties. Since 2018, it has made two places available for temporary daytime or overnight stays for minors.
