## Description

The National Council for the Elderly (CONAPAM) is a public institution of the Costa Rican state, dedicated to promoting the welfare of older adults. Operating under the Presidency of the Republic, CONAPAM seeks to ensure a dignified life for seniors through multiple services. Established in 1999 by the Integral Law for the Elderly, its mission encompasses advocacy, support, and oversight in aging-related matters.

CONAPAM provides a range of essential services, including legal assistance through its free legal consultancy, a helpline (Línea Dorada 1165) for inquiries and support, and access to various social care organizations. In 2022 alone, it served over 20,000 elderly individuals across different care programs, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Costa Rica’s aging population.

With initiatives such as the transition to Active Aging Centers and 24/7 helpline services, CONAPAM is at the forefront of improving care and resources for seniors, ensuring that their rights and needs are met effectively.
