## Description

The Conjugate Margins Conference is an international geoscience meeting focused on research and discussion related to continental margins and offshore geology. Its 2018 conference took place at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from August 19 to 22, welcoming 223 delegates from 13 countries. The program featured 124 oral and poster presentations, alongside field trips, short courses, a core workshop, and displays from industry, institutions, and professional societies.

The conference supports the exchange of scientific knowledge through presentations, extended abstracts, technical activities, and field-based learning. Topics included regional source-rock successions, reservoir geology, salt tectonics, and offshore Atlantic Canada cores. Conference materials included the program, short and extended abstracts, field-trip guides, and workshop publications, with abstracts also published in the peer-reviewed journal Atlantic Geology. Student participation was encouraged through volunteering and research presentations, with awards recognizing outstanding oral and poster contributions. The event also featured a plenary address by Dr. John F. Dewey and recognition of his contributions to earth science.
