## Description

The Conseil de l’intelligence artificielle et du numérique (CIANum) is a French public advisory council focused on the impacts of artificial intelligence and digital technologies. It conducts research and develops analysis to help public institutions, organisations and the wider public understand emerging issues and inform policy and practice. Its work addresses topics including generative and agentic AI, personal data protection, cybersecurity, digital sovereignty, education, online safety, environmental impacts, and the effects of AI on work and culture.

Rather than selling commercial products, CIANum provides public-interest resources and expertise. Its outputs include reports, policy notes, thematic publications, consultations and contributions to national discussions and commissions. The council also shares news, media information and the Décibels newsletter, which highlights developments, research, useful resources and upcoming events across the AI and digital landscape. Through these activities, CIANum encourages informed debate and supports a balanced approach to technological change, including attention to vulnerabilities, social impacts and collective digital interests.
