## Description

The SPIRIT–CONSORT Group provides internationally recognized guidance for transparent reporting of randomized trials. Its SPIRIT and CONSORT statements help researchers report trial protocols and results completely, giving readers the information needed to assess, interpret, and use research. The SPIRIT 2025 Statement sets out minimum recommendations for trial protocols in a 34-item checklist and figure. The CONSORT 2025 Statement provides minimum recommendations for reporting trial results through a 30-item checklist and participant flow diagram. Both statements are accompanied by expanded resources and Explanation and Elaboration documents that clarify and illustrate their recommendations.

The group’s website supports researchers, journals, editors, peer reviewers, and patients with guidance, extensions, translations, and information about the statements’ history and impact. It also offers access to SEPTRE, an online tool for creating, registering, and managing trial protocols, and COBWEB, a writing aid for preparing, editing, sharing, and exporting randomized trial reports. The 2025 updates and website are funded by the MRC-NIHR Better Methods, Better Research programme.
