## Description

Associazione Contesa Estense Città di Lugo APS organizes the Palio Contesa Estense, an annual historical festival held in Lugo, Italy, around mid-May during the week that includes May 15, the feast day of the city’s patron saint. The event brings the past to life across the city, with participants dressed as flag-bearers, musicians, soldiers, ladies and gentlemen from earlier times. Its program features armed duels, flag-waving and music competitions, tug-of-war contests, and other activities in which Lugo’s four rioni, or districts, compete for the Palio. Over nine days, evening events fill the city with music, performances and staged battles, combining entertainment with a celebration of local history and culture. The festival also offers four food stands serving a selection of dishes. Based at Via Passamonti 13 in Lugo, the association presents the event under the name Palio Contesa Estense Città di Lugo and shares information about its scheduled activities and visitor policies through its website.
