## Description

Orteil is an independent European game creator who makes playful, experimental games and interactive tools, primarily with JavaScript. Working with his best friend and roommate, Opti, he has built a varied collection of browser-based experiences under the DashNet name. The best-known title is Cookie Clicker, an idle game about producing cookies, expanding a cookie-making empire, and dealing with eccentric grandmothers. Its original, simpler version is also available. Other games include Neverending Legacy, which blends idle mechanics and strategy as players guide a civilization, and Nested, an exploratory universe of procedural galaxies and strange discoveries. Orteil’s tools let visitors create as well as play: RandomGen makes shareable random generators, while Idle Game Maker helps users build idle games from text files. The collection also includes a video game idea generator, a customizable take on Conway’s Game of Life, a task reminder, and creative procedural experiments. Orteil shares development updates and announcements online, and the DashNet Discord welcomes game feedback and discussion. Fans can also support the work through Patreon.
