It promotes autonomous, participatory life in the community and plans to support members in managing personal assistance services through the proposed Self-Directed Personal Assistance (APA) program. The cooperative is not a housing cooperative or a home-support provider; its role is to help members organize and manage their own assistance. The APA program is intended for people with disabilities who want to live autonomously. Through direct payments and a personal budget, participants would manage assistance according to their needs, daily routines, life choices, and family and civic responsibilities, both at home and beyond. Coop ASSIST also provides peer support.
