## Description

Copernicus Autonomous Control Systems (CACS) is a car software development company focused on autonomous driving. Founded in 2016 as Kopernikus Automotive by car enthusiasts Stefan Jenzowsky and Tim von Törne, it was renamed CACS after becoming a Ford subsidiary in 2025. The company develops Automated Valet Parking Type 2 (AVP2), an infrastructure-based approach designed to let serial-production vehicles operate autonomously in factories, yards, repair sites, logistics locations, and parking environments.

Rather than relying on vehicles to perform all driving tasks themselves, CACS equips facilities with sensors and processing capability. Its software is embedded in existing onboard electronic control units, while AI-based perception and path planning take place externally. Driving commands are then transmitted wirelessly to vehicles in real time. This approach is intended to enable autonomous operation with cars already in production.

CACS says its solutions can improve facility efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance usability for operators and customers. Its multinational team specializes in AI and robotics and collaborates with partners to advance connected, resource-efficient mobility.
