## Description

The Cork Historical and Archaeological Society Ltd (CHAS), established in 1891, stands as one of Ireland's longest-running local interest societies. Committed to preserving and promoting the history and archaeology of Cork, CHAS publishes the annual Journal of the Cork Historical and Archaeological Society (JCHAS), offering valuable insights into local heritage. Members receive this prestigious journal, along with access to a wealth of online resources including archived articles.

CHAS organizes an engaging series of events from October to April, featuring lectures at University College Cork that are free to the public. During summer, members enjoy exclusive outings to historical and archaeological sites, culminating in a festive Christmas event. The society also actively encourages membership, offering individual, student, and family subscriptions. Through its volunteer-led efforts, CHAS not only enriches the community's understanding of local history but also fosters a sense of belonging among history enthusiasts. Join CHAS today to explore and celebrate Cork's rich past together.
