## Description

The Consortium of Social Science Associations (COSSA) is a nonprofit organization that promotes and advances social and behavioral sciences in federal policymaking. Based in Washington, DC, it serves as a united voice for organizations, institutions, communities, and other stakeholders invested in a strong social science research enterprise. COSSA brings together professional associations, scientific societies, research centers and institutes, U.S. colleges and universities, and private sector partners.

COSSA’s policy experts work with advocates to support sustainable federal funding for social and behavioral science research and encourage the use of these sciences in policymaking. Its work includes policy analysis, statements, press releases, coalition letters, congressional testimony, and action alerts. COSSA also provides advocacy resources and opportunities for people to share how policy changes affect research.

The organization keeps members and the wider community informed through its biweekly Washington Update, news coverage, events, and resources explaining the value of social science and federal research funding. Members can access benefits and participate in advocacy activities, including Social Science Advocacy Day and member meetings.
