## Description

COST is a dynamic and influential European funding organization that aims to foster trans-national collaboration among researchers throughout Europe. With a mission to support research advancements and innovation, COST offers funding opportunities for the creation of research networks known as COST Actions. These networks provide a platform for scientists from various disciplines to collaborate and exchange ideas, driving progress in their respective fields. What sets COST apart is its bottom-up approach, allowing researchers to initiate networks based on their own interests and ideas. These networks are interdisciplinary, open, and inclusive, involving not only researchers but also policymakers, the private sector, and civil society. Since its establishment in 1971, COST has received funding from the EU through various research programs. National research funds are complemented by COST funding, which covers collaboration activities such as workshops, conferences, training schools, and more. By actively involving researchers from less research-intensive countries, COST strives for excellence, inclusiveness, and gender equality in its network.
