## Description

Cougar Mountain Zoo and the Zoological Society of Washington are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Issaquah, Washington. Established in 1972, the zoo focuses on endangered species and conservation through education. Its mission is to help people understand and appreciate Earth’s wildlife and humanity’s place in nature through education, conservation, propagation, and exhibition.

Visitors can explore animal exhibits organized around specialized “Worlds,” each centered on distinctive species with educational value. The zoo also offers experiences and programs for a range of audiences, including guided tours, field trips, summer camps, a living classroom, and ZOO2U outreach. Additional activities include close encounters, birthday parties, special events, and the annual Issaquah Reindeer Festival. The organization also provides opportunities to volunteer or intern, and welcomes members and donations in support of its work.

Cougar Mountain Zoo aims to provide personal attention and hospitality while encouraging visitors to see themselves as guardians of the planet. Through its animal care, public programs, and conservation-focused approach, it connects guests with wildlife and the importance of protecting it.
