The Council of Somali Organisations (CSO) is a national second tier organization that serves as an umbrella organization for the Somali Voluntary and Community Sectors. Our goal is to provide a collective voice for the Somali Community in the UK, focusing on areas such as Health & Wellbeing, Criminal Justice, Education, Poverty Reduction, and Economic empowerment. With over 200 members across the UK, including 40 Somali led Mosques, the CSO was founded in 2010 by Somali community leaders with the support of City Bridge Trust and Trust for London.

We aim to address the specific and varied needs of the Somali diaspora and organizations working with this much-misunderstood community. Our primary objectives revolve around improving the quality of services provided by our member VCOs through capacity building support, including training and business surgeries. We also strive to provide a true picture of the diverse Somali community through our research publications, and influence policy to ensure the voice and interests of Somalis are represented through campaigns and policy work.
