## Description

Généalogie Coutière is an online family-history project documenting the descendants of Jacques La Coustière, an ancestor recorded in the Gannat area of central France before 1656. Presented through the webtrees genealogy platform, the site brings together family-tree information, research notes and tools for exploring relationships across generations. Its collection follows the Coutière family and related name variations, including La Coustière, Coustière and Lacoutière, while distinguishing established connections from uncertain or unlinked branches.

The research focuses on Gannat and nearby communities in the Allier and Puy-de-Dôme, drawing on historical parish and civil records. It traces direct ancestors and collateral relatives, describing family occupations, marriages, migrations and the challenges created by gaps in older registers. The site notes a long line of direct ancestors in Saulzet and includes historical context about the region and the family’s changing surname. Visitors can explore interactive trees, ancestor and descendant charts, family pages, timelines, statistics, lists and search tools. The project also provides individual genealogy records and more than 3,500 family research files.
