## Description

COVID-19 Projections is a data and research project created by Youyang Gu to help the public understand the pandemic through artificial intelligence and epidemiological modeling. Its models estimated infections, deaths, and recovery timelines in the United States and worldwide, combining machine-learning techniques with a traditional infectious-disease model. The project offered forecasts for US states and 70 countries, as well as infection estimates for all 50 states, Washington, DC, US territories, and more than 3,000 counties.

Its resources included interactive maps, historical projections, detailed methodologies, downloadable data, and analyses of reported versus estimated infections. The site also provided vaccination projections and a population immunity calculator, estimating immunity from vaccination and prior infection. These tools were intended to make complex pandemic trends more accessible and support informed understanding of COVID-19.

The project ended its daily updates on March 7, 2021, and its death-forecasting work had concluded earlier, in October 2020. Its archived estimates and research remain available for reference, alongside links to further analysis and updates from Youyang Gu.
