## Description

CRAN, the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia, is an independent regulator established under the Communications Act. Their mission is to regulate the ICT and postal sector in Namibia for the socio-economic benefit of all Namibians. Since its establishment in 2011, CRAN has played a crucial role in regulating telecommunication services, networks, broadcasting services, postal services, and the use and allocation of radio spectrum. CRAN has issued 41 telecommunications service licenses, offering a wide array of services throughout Namibia. They have also been instrumental in the implementation of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) switchover process and have formulated a comprehensive frequency-channelling plan, used as a benchmark in the SADC region. CRAN has reached significant milestones, such as ensuring a 120% mobile penetration rate in the country. Their stakeholders include the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, the Communications Regulators' Association of Southern Africa, and the International Telecommunication Union.
