## Description

CrashStats is an online resource for exploring police-reported road collision data across England, Scotland and Wales. It brings together records of more than 9.1 million collisions from 1979 to 2025, covering over 12.1 million people killed or injured. Users can examine individual crash records, including details such as date, location, road conditions, vehicles involved and casualties.

The service provides searchable statistics and maps for 351 council areas, 4,923 roads, 2,851 towns and cities, and 2,813 postcode districts. It also identifies 12,033 accident hotspots, using collision data from 2001 to 2025. Area and location pages offer historical figures, severity breakdowns, crash maps and information about busy roads.

In addition to historical statistics, CrashStats tracks current road closures on motorways and major A roads in England and Wales. Its live listings include incidents and roadworks, with closure details and maps, and are checked every five minutes. CrashStats helps people explore where collisions occur and understand road safety patterns across Great Britain.
