CRD - Center for Research & Dialogue is an independent not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting the social, economic, and political rebuilding of Somalia. They utilize Participatory Research to facilitate dialogue, consensus building, policy development, and institutional capacity building at national and local levels. CRD focuses on a bottom-up approach, working with communities to achieve peacebuilding one district at a time. Recently, the people of Bakool Region showcased a grassroots-level democracy by reconciling and electing officials through a community-based participatory process. Somali women also play a crucial role in peacebuilding, utilizing their unique traditional role of peacemaking and crossing clan lines to encourage warring groups to engage in dialogue for peace. CRD has conducted workshops and facilitated reconciliation processes in various regions like Baidoa and Hiiraan. As an affiliate of Inter Peace, CRD collaborates with local and international actors to overcome conflicts, prevent re-occurrence, and build lasting peace in Somalia.
