CRESPIAL, the Regional Center for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Latin America, was established in February 2006 as a result of an agreement signed between UNESCO and the Peruvian government. With two decades of dedication to promoting the preservation of intangible cultural heritage (ICH), CRESPIAL focuses on fostering cooperation among Latin American countries, aligning its initiatives with UNESCO's 2003 Convention. The center actively engages in developing public policies that protect living heritage while offering various resources, publications, and multimedia content aimed at enhancing understanding and appreciation of ICH.

CRESPIAL organizes events, training courses, and virtual forums to raise awareness about the importance of intangible cultural heritage, cultural rights, and sustainable development. Their podcast, Patrimonio Vivo, invites discussions surrounding the rich cultural diversity of Latin America. Additionally, CRESPIAL invites photographers to capture the essence of ICH through a regional photography contest, further celebrating and documenting this invaluable heritage.
