## Description

The Italian Red Cross – Gioia Tauro Committee is a local branch of the Italian Red Cross, serving Gioia Tauro and surrounding communities in Calabria. Guided by the Red Cross commitment to assist people in need, the committee works across social support, health, emergency preparedness and community engagement. Its activities include a travelling social help desk that gathers residents’ concerns and identifies needs, as well as projects for children and families, such as the Breakfast Club initiative. The committee also supports public health through information campaigns, including awareness of mosquito-borne illnesses, and provides health services at community events. Its work extends to civil protection education and environmental initiatives such as “Puliamo il Mondo.” The organization offers opportunities to get involved, including volunteering and participation in the Universal Civil Service. Through local projects, public information and practical assistance, the Gioia Tauro Committee aims to make support accessible to people across the area. It also shares news, service information and organizational materials through its website and social channels.
