## Description

CRIOBE, the Center for Insular Research and Environmental Observatory, is a research support unit dedicated to the study of coral reefs. Affiliated with École Pratique des Hautes Études, the University of Perpignan Via Domitia, and France’s National Center for Scientific Research, CRIOBE operates in Perpignan and French Polynesia, with a representative office in Paris. Its work brings together ecological, biological, chemical, physiological, genetic, social, and cultural perspectives to deepen understanding of reef environments and the people connected to them.

The center organizes its research around four strategic programs: chemical interactions and mediations; reef life in a changing world; functional ecology and ecosystem services; and management of social-ecological systems. Its facilities include Moorea’s International Research Station and the Bio2Mar analytical chemistry platform. CRIOBE also supports education at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels, offers professional learning, and provides resources through its MANEA remote learning platform. Publications, events, conferences, and exhibitions further share research and promote learning about coral reefs.
