About
Description
The Croix Rouge Memorial Foundation is dedicated to commemorating the brave service of the 167th (Alabama) Infantry Regiment, a National Guard unit of the 42nd Rainbow Division during World War I. Through various mediums, including a memorial in Fère-en-Tardenois, France, and three memorials in Montgomery, Alabama, the foundation preserves the memory of American involvement in World War I and specifically highlights the Alabama contribution. Established in 2007 by Nimrod T.
Frazer, the foundation aims to honor the soldiers who fought at the Battle of Croix Rouge Farm. The centerpiece of the memorial is a ten-foot bronze sculpture depicting an American soldier carrying a fallen comrade. Situated on the original battlefield, the memorial holds historical significance.
In addition to the Fère-en-Tardenois memorial, the foundation has also contributed memorial sculptures to Montgomery, Alabama, including one at Union Station and another at Maxwell Air Force Base. Through its efforts, the Croix Rouge Memorial Foundation ensures that the sacrifice and bravery of those involved in World War I are never forgotten
