## Description

CSB, or the Community Services Bureau, serves as the focal point for community assistance in Contra Costa County. Established as part of a national initiative aimed at combating poverty, CSB operates under the umbrella of the Employment and Human Services Department with an annual budget close to $30 million. As the largest childcare provider in the region, CSB caters to over 2,100 children and their families each year through a comprehensive range of programs, including Head Start, Early Head Start, and State Preschool.

In addition to its early childhood education services, CSB offers critical support for low-income residents through its utility assistance programs and weatherization services, all funded by the Community Service Block Grant. With a dedicated team of roughly 400 employees across 13 locations, CSB remains committed to empowering individuals and families, helping them navigate the challenges of poverty while providing essential resources and education. Through its multifaceted programs, CSB actively contributes to the community's well-being and development.
