The Canadian Society of Microbiologists (CSM) is a prestigious organization dedicated to advancing microbiology in all its aspects and fostering the exchange of ideas among microbiologists. Their mission is to promote the study of microorganisms and facilitate collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the scientific community. The society welcomes a diverse range of members, including honorary, emeritus, ordinary, student, and sustaining members.

The CSM is organized into three sections, each exploring different areas of microbiology. The Applied & Environmental Microbiology section delves into the study of microorganisms in biotechnologies, food science, agriculture, waste treatment, and more. The Infection & Immunity section focuses on microbial pathogenesis, medical and veterinary microbiology, and the development of vaccines and therapies against infectious diseases.

The CSM holds an Annual General Meeting and maintains several active committees engaged in various activities. They are funded by annual membership dues and proceeds from sponsored meetings.
