CSYA Louisville is a dynamic collective action initiative that brings together community organizations, corporations, civic institutions, and individuals to address the needs of disconnected youth and young adults in Louisville, Kentucky. Our mission is to tackle the challenges faced by these individuals, such as structural racism, poverty, homelessness, educational disruption, and childhood trauma. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, a significant portion of young adults in Louisville faced disconnection from education and employment.

Approximately 17,100 individuals aged 16 to 24 were neither in school nor working due to these challenges. Moreover, over 9,800 18- to 24-year-olds in Louisville lack a high school diploma, with Black youth experiencing a 17. 6 percentage point higher disconnection rate compared to their white peers.

Recognizing the complexity and interconnected nature of these issues, CSYA Louisville is committed to conducting research, raising public awareness, advocating for system-level change, coordinating services, and measuring outcomes. By working together, we aim to empower young people to learn, achieve financial independence, and actively participate in our community. Since our inception in 2011, CSYA Louisville has grown exponentially, thanks to the support of various service providers and our fiscal sponsors, namely the Coalition for the Homeless, YMCA Safe Place, and Youth Build Louisville.

We believe in keeping youth voices at the center of our activities and advocating for cooperation and collaboration among youth-serving agencies. Our ultimate vision is to empower youth and young adults to lead fulfilling and productive lives through the eradication of system-level barriers and the implementation of best practices.
