## Description

Curl Ayrshire Charity (CAC) is a not-for-profit company established in 2024 to restore dedicated curling facilities to Ayrshire. After Ayr Ice Rink closed in September 2023, the region was left without a dedicated venue for the sport. CAC aims to build and operate a new ice rink, designed primarily for curling while also accommodating other sports and community activities. The charity has identified a potential site at Somerset Park in Ayr and has a pre-lease agreement with its owner. Working with architects, it has developed plans for the proposed facility and submitted a pre-application to South Ayrshire Council. CAC has also prepared a fully costed business plan intended to support the project’s financial and environmental sustainability, and is seeking funding and pledges to make the development possible. Supporters can register a pledge through the charity’s membership form. While the rink project progresses, Curl Ayrshire members continue to take part in national competitions, including the Morton, Maxwell and Henderson Bishop.
