CutBank Literary Magazine has established itself as Montana's premier literary journal since its founding in 1973 by the University of Montana's Creative Writing program. Celebrating over fifty years, CutBank publishes two print issues annually, showcasing an eclectic mix of poetry, fiction, and literary nonfiction that embraces both established and emerging writers. The magazine offers readers a global perspective while retaining a strong regional focus, having featured works by literary luminaries including Wendell Berry and Louise Erdrich.

Alongside its literary content, CutBank operates a vibrant online bookstore, providing access to curated chapbooks, including the popular 2025 Chapbooks series and the 'CutBank 100' anthology. They actively engage with the literary community through features, contests, and thought-provoking interviews.
