## Description

Cuyahoga River Area of Concern (Cuyahoga AOC) is dedicated to restoring the ecological health of the lower 46.5 miles of the Cuyahoga River and its adjacent Lake Erie shoreline. As part of the Great Lakes Areas of Concern initiative, Cuyahoga AOC addresses historical environmental degradation by overseeing projects aimed at removing Beneficial Use Impairments (BUIs) that hinder aquatic life and recreational use. The AOC Advisory Committee, comprised of various stakeholders—including agencies, businesses, and community members—develops and implements strategies to enhance water quality and habitat restoration.

The committee has successfully delisted several impairments, such as beach closings and public access issues, while continuing to work on remaining challenges like fish populations and habitat loss. Cuyahoga AOC also encourages local community involvement in conservation efforts, providing practical suggestions for citizens to help restore the river's health. With a comprehensive Remedial Action Plan, the Cuyahoga AOC strives to create a sustainable environment that benefits both nature and the community.
