## Description

Carnavalsvereniging ’t Stiekelzwien is a carnival association based in Barger-Compascuum, known for organising one of the most celebrated carnival parades in the north of the Netherlands. Founded in 1965, the association crowned its first prince, Prins Iegel, that year and held its first parade in 1971. Since then, generations of members and volunteers have helped the celebration grow while keeping it relevant to the times.

The association’s guiding values are quality, humour, togetherness and social responsibility. Its carnival festivities are made possible by the board, the Raad van Elf, the Prince and Princess, court ladies, dance performers, local artists, venue providers, hospitality businesses and volunteers. Visitors can explore the carnival programme, buy tickets and take part in the parade, while those interested can join the association or support it through sponsorship. The organisation also offers venue rental. With a new board taking the association into its next chapter, ’t Stiekelzwien continues to bring the community together for a lively and welcoming carnival season.
