About

Description

Cweic is the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, an accredited business network in the Commonwealth. As a non-profit membership organization, Cweic has been mandated by the Commonwealth Heads of Government to foster trade and investment among the 56 member nations. Leveraging the Commonwealth's trusted network and convening power under the leadership of His Majesty The King, Cweic drives trade and investment activities.

Cweic's extensive network includes around 140 strategic partners from 35 countries and territories, encompassing both businesses and governments. Prominent members such as Standard Chartered, Zenith Bank, Trade & Investment Queensland, and the Government of the Maldives participate actively. Through this network, Cweic offers various advantages to its strategic partners.

First, Cweic facilitates connections between its members and decision-makers at the highest levels of Commonwealth Governments, businesses, multi-lateral institutions, and academia. This ensures that strategic partners can engage with the right stakeholders. Second, Cweic creates opportunities for its members by hosting targeted trade missions, business forums, networking events, thought leadership webinars, and bespoke investment programs.

These initiatives support members in securing new business deals. Furthermore, Cweic focuses on ethical and sustainable investing. It develops financial instruments like Green Bonds and collaborates with global institutions, universities, charities, and NGOs that share its values and aspirations.

Being part of Cweic's network enables strategic partners to influence global discourse through engaging with senior government leaders, policymakers, and presenting research. Cweic also serves as a conduit between governments and the private sector, promoting global thought leadership on key issues. Cweic's flagship event is the Commonwealth Business Forum (CBF), held every two years alongside the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

This three-day event brings together senior business leaders and government officials to facilitate discussions, networking, and deal-making. Additionally, Cweic hosts the Commonwealth Games Business Forum, a high-profile economic and business summit that takes place every four years alongside the Commonwealth Games. This event leverages the Games' convening power to bring together Commonwealth leaders.

Celebrating the Commonwealth, Cweic partners with the Royal Commonwealth Society and the City of London to organize the annual Commonwealth Banquet at the Guildhall in London. This event is an opportunity for the business community, the Commonwealth family, and the diplomatic corps to network and celebrate. Cweic further supports its members through various initiatives, including convening Commonwealth delegations to international events, organizing country visits, and hosting exclusive roundtables and seminars with influential figures from business and government.

To join Cweic as a member or for general inquiries, interested parties can visit their membership page or get in touch directly. The organization is committed to promoting trade and investment across the Commonwealth, as a not-for-profit, limited company accredited to the Commonwealth Secretariat
